A to Z of your hospital stay

Art Corner

Artworks provide stimulation and make the hospital environment more welcoming.

At Goldenes Kreuz we believe artworks make the hospital setting more appealing, so we like to use them to decorate patients’ rooms, as well as our treatment and waiting areas.

For over 20 years now, exhibitions and private viewings have helped create a special setting for events and celebrations here. Sometimes patients, doctors, or visitors choose to purchase an exhibition piece, and many of these works then remain in the hospital on permanent loan – either as private purchases or as gifts from the artists themselves.

They include a wide range of styles, from traditional still-lifes through to modern art. The techniques used in the artworks include oil, acrylic and watercolor painting, etching, lithography, gouache, detailed drawing and photo montage, and others.

At Goldenes Kreuz you can see original works by artists including

Ingrid Brandstetter, Martina Braun, Gerhard Burgenstett-Schribertschnig, Klemens Filzwieser, Günther Frank, Monika Geelhaar, Rudolf Heller, Klaus Hollauf, Heidrun Karlic, Broncia Koller-Pinell, Maria Lahr, Dorothea Neudorfer, Martin Praska, Claudia
Rottenbacher, Verena Rotterdam-Auersperg, Christa Trkal, Othmar Wundsam,       Susanne Zemrosser und Reinhard Zerrle.

as well as reproductions and prints including works by

Heinz Anger, Arik Brauer, Paul Flora, Maria Gabriel, Nikolaus Hipp, Erwin Kastner, Helmut Kern, Kurt Kramer, Kurt Manhart, Kurt Panzenberger, Hans Paus, Klara Scholler, Karl-Heinz Schreiner, Ulla Schulz, Maria Spindler und weiteren.

In addition, within the framework of our Art Corner Kunst im Goldenen Kreuz from 2010 to 2021, we were able to present contemporary Austrian artists and artists living in Austria and show their works at three- to four-month intervals.

Marianne Attia has been responsible for all art matters and the decoration of the house with paintings over the years.

Internet access

At Goldenes Kreuz Private Hospital you can access the internet (Wi-Fi) free of charge throughout the building, and even in the roof garden, using your own laptop or mobile device. In our cafeteria on the ground floor there is a laptop available for use during opening hours.

Mobile phones

Please avoid using your cell phone on hospital premises!
High-frequency electromagnetic radiation can cause disruption to various types of equipment in the hospital. In some instances this can lead to dangerous situations. Equipment ranging from electronic infusion pumps to heart-rate monitors may be disturbed.

We therefore ask you not to use your mobile phone at all in the children’s ward, delivery rooms, surgical areas and recovery rooms.

Please be considerate of those around you when using your cell phone.

Newspapers and books

There is no need to give up your daily newspaper during your stay. A free daily newspaper is included with your breakfast. Other newspapers, various magazines, and books are available for purchase in our cafeteria.

Pharmacy service for the period after discharge from the hospital

We are happy to provide you with the medications you may need for your first few days back at home. The medication will then be brought to your room on the following work day.

If the ward staff do not have at least one day’s advance notice of your discharge date, we will unfortunately not have sufficient time to organize your medications. If this is the case, your prescription will be included in your discharge folder, and can be filled at any pharmacy of your choice.

Registration and admission

If you have chosen Goldenes Kreuz Private Hospital for your treatment, your doctor will contact our Patient Admissions office and make the necessary reservations (bed, operating room, etc.).

When you arrive for your hospital stay, please go to the Admission Office first. This is on the ground floor (just beyond the concierge desk). Once you have completed the formalities at Reception, one of our staff members will take you to the admissions ward, or to the ward you are booked into.

For details of what to bring with you on the day you are admitted, see Registration, admission.

Smoking

Smoking is not permitted in patients’ rooms, nor in most areas of the hospital. Please use the smoking cubicle in the lounge, next to the cafeteria. Smoking is also permitted in our roof garden.

Supplementary insurance – direct billing agreements

Do you have private supplementary health insurance? Goldenes Kreuz Private Hospital has direct billing agreements with many Austrian and international private insurance providers.

Direct billing means that the bill for fees and charges incurred during your stay is sent directly from Goldenes Kreuz to the relevant insurance provider. For more details see Fees, billing.

Taking photos and videos

We are committed to protecting our patients’ privacy. For this reason we do not allow photography or filming within the hospital premises. This measure also serves to protect the personal rights of all individuals in the hospital.
Media representatives are requested to contact the Director’s office or Corporate Communications office in advance.

Video cameras

We use a video camera to monitor the hospital’s entrance area, so that anyone waiting outside when the doors are closed or locked can be seen as soon as possible.

We also watch the hospital’s private parking area, to help optimize the use of its limited capacity, for people who are entitled to a parking space.

No individuals are identified in this process. Camera images are shown in real time at Reception, and deleted immediately afterwards. These images are not stored or forwarded. For further details see data protection.

Valuables

We hope you will understand that Goldenes Kreuz Private Hospital cannot be held responsible for valuables or cash.

You have the option of locking any valuable personal items in the safe box in your room (maximum insurance value up to € 1,000), or making use of the safe in our admissions office (maximum insurance value up to € 3,000). The cupboard in your room is also lockable. If you are going to be away from your room for an extended period, it is advisable to hand the key for your cupboard to our care team for safekeeping.
